Closing emails automatically on replies and forwards

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Email Client: pop How do I get the original email to close automatically when i reply or forward it? I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find the function so I have to manually close every email.

Why open the email in it¹s own window? Just use the Preview pane to view
your emails.
