Closing out Bucket Tasks and entering complete %

We’ve been asked by the development team to create weekly tasks for some
items for DB resources. If there is nothing required of that resource for
that given week, it is my understanding that if they enter zero hours against
the task, this will still not close it out. Is there something that the
resource should be doing, so that it does close out this task? The AMs have
been having to change the percent completion to 100% and it is just causing
some extra work for them.

To close out a task, the team member needs to set the Remaining Work to 0
hours. The Remaining Work column is not included in the My Tasks page by
default, so if your Project Server administrator has not already added this
column, he/she should do so. Hope this helps.

Yes, if you go in and set the remaining work to 0 and don’t enter any time
against the task, it shows in your task list as “not doneâ€. And as I
understand it, it stays because it won’t leave your task list until it shows
100%. So the only way to resolve is to go into the project plan and update
it to 100%. Sounds like there is no other workaround. Correct?

Sadly, based on my testing on Project Server 2007, you are correct. The
maddening part about this is when Remaining Work = 0h, the task is 100%
complete, and the system should calculate that automatically. GRRR! Hope
this helps.
