Cluster Size Issue

B

Bob Weiner

I installed Win 2003 on a server using Dell's server installation cd which
left me with a boot partion (C:) using a cluster size of 512 bytes. The
DBWriteTool tells me I should have 4K.

I created a second partition (G:) with the requisite 4K cluster size.

My question is twofold:

1. Would installing the program onto C: and the data directory on G: be
a supported and workable solution?

2. If I install this now using what I have, will I be able to move the
relay onto a new computer later without interrupting service?

Thanks!

Hi Bob,
I know this issue with the Cluster size. I just put the whole installation
on the G drive. Just to be sure

On your second question, you can just create a new relay server add it to
you GMS, point your users to that Relay and just take the other one offline
after 60 days. Then you know for sure that all messages, delta's and
inventations are processed or falen out of scope.

see ya

Thanks, that is good to know.

My current setup is simply to evaluate the software and form a couple of
pilot groups. If it goes over well, though, I'd like to simply grow it into
production as opposed to starting over.
