*.cnt files

I have a large group of files in my _private folder with the extension of
cnt and the icon shows a white x inside a red circle over what loks like a
file icon. What are these files? Can I delete them? Thanks in advance. I use
FP 2002.

Each file records the value of one hit counter in the
current site.

Yes, but this will reset your hit counters to zero.

The red circles with x's in them indicate that FrontPage
won't publish those files along with the rest of your
site. This stops hit counts on the local site from
overlaying hit counts on the destination site.

Jim,

Speaking of hit counters, do you know of any nice looking (small text) ones that work in FP? The themed ones that come with FP are extremely U-G-L-Y. I know they are not accurate but it's nice to know when someone (anyone) hits the page :)

Make you own image.
It's nothing more than a gif image that contains the numbers
0123456789

Take a screen shot, edit it and save it as a gif.
Just make sure the width of the image is divisible by 10.

Here's two "home made" ones for example .

Your kidding, you mean there's no majick to it then? Sheesh.
I suppose I can add it somehow to FP's list of available counters?
I'll figure it out...off on another quest!

Thanks!

To use a "custom" image, when you insert the hit counter
select "custom image" and enter the path to
your gif image.
