Code to create dbase file from text file?

Hi,

Any sample code on how to read a text file (eg 500000 recs by 15 fields)
into a DBASE file? Is DBASE acceptable or are there better databases to
use - reason for question - if ever I reach 2gig then will DBASE will fall
over - correct?
