Collaboration in Project 2003

Our project team is considering using Project 2003 to manage several projects. We will have several teams with team leads who will report to project managers. Team members will need to communicate project status to their team leads who will then communicate status to project managers. We do not have a need to communicate globally over the web, and a centralized server version may be overkill for our needs. Our teams are all in the same physical location and can communicate via our intranet. In previous versions of MS Project, we could use WGsetup to collaborate. Is intranet communication available in Project 2003? Can anyone point me in the right direction to learn more

Thank you
David
