collaboration with Web Access

Dima

Hello,

We a looking to implement a project management/collaboration solution using
Project Server, Project Professional (for the manager) and Web Access (for
the team). Team members need the ability to create tasks & issues,
submit/modify their time information (working hours), access the project
timeline/schedule/calendar, and submit (share) project-related files and
documents. Does Web Access allow for this? In general, how much contributing
power does Web Access allow for?

Thank you in advance,

M

Mike Glen

Hi Dima,

Try posting on the server newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project
Newsgroups. FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information

The answer to your first question is yes. Project Web Access allows team
members the the ability to propose new tasks and to create issues, to
submit/modify their time information (working hours) for each task
assignment, to access the project timeline/schedule/calendar in the Project
Center and detailed Project views, and to submit (share) project-related
files and documents.

You will need to be more specific about your second question. Hope this
helps.

Thank you.

What I was getting at in the second question is a list of functions that a
team member using Web Access can perform on a project versus a manager using
Project Professional.

Or, in related words, what justifies purhasing Project Professional for
every team member (as opposed to only the manager)?

TIA,

You should NEVER purchase Microsoft Project for team members, unless you
want total chaos. Team members and executives should use PWA for their
project work, while project managers should use both Microsoft Project
Professional and PWA for their work. I don't have the time to answer your
question in detail, therefore, for a list of features in PWA you should
refer to the following link:

Hope this helps.
