Collaboration

How does collaboration work? I have a group of users that
have a major project built and they now want to start
collaborating. I'm not sure if they really know what it
does. I need to know how to have it installed. Does it
take special server software to be installed or just a
normal version of Project to be loaded on the server? Can
it be loaded on any type of server? I was thinking of
having it reside on my intranet server. I know IIS needs
to be running and we have 2000 running also.

Collaboration, in order to collaborate properly you need
to have Project Server Installed and the users need to be
using Project Professional...when a user uploads and
publishes (publishes, saves, what ever they call it) to
the server the document would be available for other
users to access...if they have project pro as well then
they can modify the doc. other wise its through WebAccess
and they can read the doc...The collaboration aspect
comes from the functions within Word / Excel as well as
Project, you can now track changes to docs (through
checkin / checkout sharepoint controls) or through Word
with the track changes options...this way you always have
the latest version being used since the users can only
get the doc from one location...
