You made such useful software in MS Project; why leave this out!
Can't we have something that does the opposite of the Show > All Subtasks
button, i.e. collapses all subtasks into the summary task?
That would be very useful.

Thanks.

Hi,

Click the Show button and select the outline level you want. Or you can
selectall and click the - icon.

Hello Shahriar,

Welcom to this Microsoft Project General Questions discussion group and
thank you for your suggestion.

In addition to what Mr. Gill and Mr. Rabey have already pointed out, you
also have a Show/Hide sub-tasks button just left of each summary task.

This way, Microsoft Project gives you the flexibility to show, for example,
outline level 1 for the whole project, but then show the sub-tasks only for
the "second phase" summary task.

Best regards,

OK, so I'm re-opening an old thread I found through Google. But I do agree with the original poster, although I am not sure it was expressed so that everyone understood.

What I would like is a "Collapse All" button. Not the "Collapse" (minus sign) button we have today.

Today, all Project does is collapse the task I am on, and if I re-open it, it appears as it was with all it's children summary tasks also open.

A "Collapse All" button would close every summary task in the project… that way, when browsing through the list of tasks, one can open and close a parent task and only see "parents" underneath. Something quite useful in a large project plan.

Having written this, maybe I realise it wasn't so easy to write in the first place.

I suspect a simple piece of VBA would solve this, but I'm not the quickest at VBA and don't really have the time in any case.

Any volunteers?

Thanks, Nic.
