Collapse folders in Outlook Express

Whenever I open Outlook Express, the folders and sub-folders that I closed in
the previous session are still open.
I have closed them by clicking on the minus sign to the left of the folder
in the Folder pane.
I am using Outlook Express 6.00.2900.5512.
What am I doing incorrectly?
