Collapse wdCollapseEnd

hello everyone

I would be very happy if someone could explain how collapsing works.
I am trying to put an inlineshape horizontal line in a footer and collapse
is giving me strange results.

A simple explanation on how collapse works would be verymuch appreciated.

thanx

Hi =?Utf-8?B?Rm90b0FydA==?=,

Range.Collapse wdCollapseEnd: think of a selection you've made in a Word
document. Now imagine what happens when you press the right-arrow key. It's
essentially the same thing: the selection becomes a blinking Insertion Point;
the range is reduced to a "point" at the end of the original range.

When inserting fields and graphics the Range is sometimes not expanded to
include what you're inserting. (The behavior is consistent, just not the same
for every type of object.) You might need to first collapse the range, then
set Range.Start = Range.End + 1 (or something like that - depends on exactly
how you're inserting the inlineshape (with or without a link))
