Collapsed navigation pane title takes up too much space

Is there any way to make the space of the collapsed Navigation pane that says
"Navigation pane" smaller? It's a waste of space in which I would like to be
able to see more of my favorite folders.

no, not really. if you slide the buttons up and then back down, it will be
smaller but that only adds room for one or two more folders.
