Color Categories

All of the color categories just disappeared recently from my Outlook 2007 -
if I click on previous entries a popup window says "Not in master category
list." Is there any way to restore these? Running Windows Vista - as an
aside, this OS is the most buggy, underdone, troublesome MS travesty since
ME. This is just the most recent squirrely occurrence with software that is
MICROSOFT software, running under their OWN OS! My fear is, that even if I
laboriously restore it, something else will make it go away the next time I
reboot. Rant off. Any help appreciated...

Did you change the default PST file?

You might try a right click on the store's top folder (Personal Folders),
properties, Update to color categories. That should add all categories to
the Master Category List.

If you want to export/import your categories, maybe for a separat backup,
you might use Category Manager - link in my signature.

BTW: Vista has nothing to do with your Outlook data.

Thanks for the quick response Mike. Re-Vista and Outlook, understood. Vista
does have SOME influence on Outlook data, however, because the installation
of Windows Mail has prevented (and prevents on many other user's systems,
apparently) mail leaving my Outbox. John Dvorak seems to think so also, and
I echo his disturbing quote in the latest PC: "What if Microsoft is in over
its head and is now unable to provide a usable OS ever again?"

I just restored the Categories manually to my calendar and all appears well
to date. Backup appears to be a prudent idea...

Thanks again!
