Color Code Rows

Luke

I would like to color code the rows of my spreadsheet based on the value of a
certain column.

For example, I have a column labeled 'status'. The values of the cells in
that column are either Paid in 'Full', 'Deposit Paid', or 'No Payment
required'. I would like to have the entire row have a cell color of Green
for the "Paid in Full" customers, Blue for the 'Deposit Paid' and Yellow for
'No Payment required'.

Is this possible? If so how would I go about it, as I am somewhat of a
novice in Excel. Thanks for any help

Yes, what you want to use is Conditional Formatting.

1. Highlight all of your rows that you want to apply this formatting to.
2. Select "Conditional Formatting" from the Format Menu
3. Change "Cell Value Is" to "Formula Is"
4. Enter the formula: =$A1="Paid In Full"
5. Set your format (Green Background)
6. Click "ADD>>"
7. Change "Cell Value Is" to "Formula Is"
8. Enter the formula: =$A1="Deposit Paid"
9. Set your format (Blue Background)
10. Click "ADD>>"
11. Change "Cell Value Is" to "Formula Is"
12. Enter the formula: =$A1="No Payment Required"
13. Set your format (Yellow Background)
14. Click OK

I used $A1 for the cell reference in the example, change yours to match your
"Status" column.
