Color Coding Categories

i'm new to outllook and could use some help. I used to use entourage on a mac
which allows you to do this one thing that i would like to know if i can do
with outlook.

i put all my contacts into categories. i want to make it so that when emails
come in from someone in one of these categories they are color coded. I now
to use the automatic formatting but i'm having a problem writting the
conditions. For instance i would like anyone listed in my "personal" category
to come in as green. is there a way to do this where i don't have to
indivdually add each person as a condition but just as a category? any help
would be greatly appreciated.

no easy way but you can do it using rules and formating:

make rules that categorise the incoming email, then use formating to make
items of that category a certain colour. It may be easier to move Contacts
into folders as you can then specify in rule that emails from Contacts in a
specific folder should be category Friend, then use autoformatting to change
the colour of all Freind items.
