Color doesn't print correctly

Meenie

I have Publisher 2003 and Printer HP color laserjet 1600.
The colors I see in my print preview do not print the same as I see them.
Pink comes out a yellowish brown. Other colors come out darker (especially
blue - or it is more purple)
What can I do to fix this? It's very irritating to spend time to get my
colors just right and then have them print completely differently.
thanks Meenie
PS: I tried to post this about an hour ago, but it never showed up - sorry
if it comes in twice! :)

Is this only a problem with Publisher?
Are the toner cartridges all in the right slots?
Have you tried updating or just re-installing the driver in case it's gotten
corrupted?

thanks for the links Mary.
I went to the HP help site and it said if the color printed is different
from what you see on the monitor, "Select Screen Match in the Color tab of
the printer driver."
If that exists, I sure can't find it. Not in the driver, not in the printer
under Control panel, and when I click on "print" in Publisher and go to the
color tab.
(I tried printing some colors from Word and got the same result btw)
The interesting thing is I went to my hp program on my computer and they had
the same trouble shooting tips listed there as on the website except for this
same problem it said to "Click the Color tab of the printer driver. Under
Color Options click Settings, and select sRGB default."
and that's what is already selected.
I tried all the calibrating tips too, it just makes everything on my
computer look funny, but doesn't help my printing any.
Back to the drawing board!

No, the colors print funky in Word too.
the cartridges are in the right slots... HP nicely marks the color around
each slot for those of us who might be technicologically challenged :)
I haven't reinstalled or updated the driver because I'm in a company and IT
installed all my drivers.

If you have an IT dept. & this is for work -- can they help?
They *ought* to be able to, isn't that what they're there for??
