Color Fill Cells??

We recently upgraded to 2007 at the office. I still have to save all
of my files in 03 format so others within the company can view. All
files are saved and opened in compatibility mode. Here is my
question:

How can i fill a cell (shading/color), without getting a compatibility
mode error? I've tried all standard colors, with no success. Any
ideas?
