color fill, lines shading do not show on the moniter

I have a student version of word 2003 and Any thing I do with (fill or line
color,shading etc) will print but They do not show on the moniter display.
Kind of like flying blind. You know that things are working you just cannot
see the composition of your project. Just to be sure that it is in the
program I installed it on another computer I have and got exactly the same
results...Just one more point. I can change the color of the Fonts (and see
the change) but nothing else. What ever you can suggest I would appreciate
it a great deal..... Larry

In Windows XP, click on Start | Control Panel | Accessibility Options |
Display tab | uncheck the "Use high contrast" box | OK.
