Color Printing in Word and PowerPoint 2003

Aaron

We have just started testing Office 2003 and have noticed
that users on Windows 2000 have an issue when printing
pictures embeded into Word and Powerpoint. Windows XP
users do not have the issue.

The problem is that 2003 takes the picture shrinks it in
half and prints a duplicate copy of it. So if you were
printing 1 picture at 4 X 4 the result would be two off
that pictures in at 2 x 2 in the 4x4 square. This has
happened on all of our color printers and our HP
Plotters. If anyone has seen this please let me know if
you have found any fixes. Thanks!

This is quite bizarre, and I've not heard of PPT doing anything like
this. I wonder if you just need new printer drivers for the Windows2000
users to access?

Have you checked the HP forums to see if they've run across this before?

Since our color printer isn't an HP I wouldn't check them
for an answer. Our plotter is however and HP support has
already opened a ticket with MS. I have opened a ticket
with MS Support and they have aggreed that this is an
issue with Office 2003 and Windows 2000. They will work
on a fix and send it to me ASAP. If anyone would like the
patch please let me know and I'll be glad to post it on
any FTP site.

Thank you for posting this additional info, Aaron, so I'll know what to tell
the user the next time I hear about this issue.

As for your patch/fix, you probably don't want to post that to an FTP site.
MS will often make hotfixes available -- but they ask that people call in to
receive them. This is because hotfixes haven't been tested extensively, and
so strange things can happen. I'm betting your fix will probably be
something along the lines of a hotfix.
