I have used project before, but some years back when it first came out - I now have another project and have forgot how to colour co-ordinate an individual to their tasks. For example Bill is always blue and John is always Red. I do not want to have to keep manually changing their colours - Is this possible

thanks

Hello Simon,

Try the following link to an archive on Woody's Project
Watch. I think it will refresh your memory:

Hope this helps,
Julie

Thanks Julie - I am still searching for the answer? I followed the prompt of right clicking on the header to bring up 'customise', which did not appear??? I have the Project 2000 as well, so a touch confused - thanks anyway, as it is further than I have got so far.

Hi Simon,

You first need to insert the custom Flag1 field (if you
are using the instructions from the site.)
To insert the custom field:
Click on an existing column.
Click Insert --> Column in the menu.
In the Column Definition dialog box, select the field
called Flag 1.
Click OK.
Now click on the Flag1 field column heading with your
right mouse button and you should have the Customize
Field command in the shortcut menu.
This was available in Project 2000 so I am a bit a sea as
to where the command is in your shortcut menu. Do you
have the command available if you go to
Tools --> Customize --> Fields?

Let us know and we'll try again.
Julie

You are being very helpful Julie I must say! I have completed everything you said and yes I can get to there via tools etc...

So whats next in terms of colour designation?

Hi Simon,
Glad to know things are looking up ;-).
The rest of the steps for creating the formula for the
Flag field(s) are in the link I sent earlier. (I've
copied it below again to help.)

http://www.woodyswatch.com/project/archtemplate.asp?2-10

It's quite a few steps (too many to list here) but I
think if you follow the steps in the webpage, it will
guide you through.
You may wish to print out the webpage to have all the
steps in front of you.
Let us know how you get along and reply to this thread if
you have any further questions.

Hope this helps.

Julie
