colour in cell

Can the replace command be used for colours on a cell? I
would like to replace all the cells with a particular
color with text.

David,

Have you tried putting the ranges in brackets, e.g.

(A1:A10, B3:F3)

as you values

Sorry, answered wrong question.

The answer to this question is no, but you could use VBA to do it.

This one's been coming up more and more. Let me say this to all. Don't use
colors as a way of inputting things into a worksheet. Colors should be for
display (output) only. There aren't ready ways to examine the colors that
have been set manually.

Instead, put values into cells -- stuff we can read, and formulas and other
things can examine. Then you can use things like Conditional Formatting to
cause colors to appear.
