Hi Lynn,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

If you have Project 2007, you can colour the table cells via Format/Text
Styles.. and in the dialog, bottom left, you can choose a background colour.
Earlier versions only allow the text to be coloured. For the Gantt bars,
chose Format/Bar Styles... .

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hello Lynn,

In short, no. The ability to add background formatting was
introduced with Project 2007 and is not available in Project 2003.

is there anyway to add background colour in MSP 2003?

No, it's not available.

But what you could do if this is essential is to take a GIF file image
of the Gantt chart (with the little camera icon) and in an image editor
overlay translucent colour bars where you want them.

Again, no, not through Project. The Cellcolor property of the Cell
object does not exist in Project 2003 as it does in Project 2007.

So, you'll have to arrive at a work around outside of Project.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
