Column Headings (Excel 2007)

B

Bob

Hello,

What determines if the Column Heading on the top are alphabetical as A,
B, C, etc. or Numerical as 1,2, 3 ?

Is there an option somewhere for this ?
The HELP on Excel I tried didn't seem to address this.

Which is the "normal" way of setting up a spreadsheet?
Does it matter, or have any other implications ?

Thanks,
Bob

It can be hard to search Excel help unless you know the exact name of
something. What you have is "R1C1 reference style".

Usually with letters for the columns.

I believe in Excel 2007 it's Round office button » Excel Options »
Formulas » Working with formulas and remove the tick mark on "R1C1
reference style".

(I have Excel 2010, but the option structure is pretty similar. If
you can't find it, search Help for "R1C1 reference style".)
Does it matter, or have any other implications ?

Well, it confuses the heck out of people. :)
