Column Hide error

Excel 2003 "Column Hide" function sometimes returns error "cannot shift
objects off sheet", usually when attempting to hide multiple columns but
occasionally for single columns too. The spreadsheet is around 2.35MB and I
have tried shifting some columns to a different part of the spreadsheet to
limit the number of columns I'm trying to hide, but this has not resolved the
issue. Any ideas?
