Column Limits in Acc 2k and XP

Just wondering if anyone knows what is the max number of
columns you can have in Access 2000 and what the max is
for Access XP

If you are referring to the maximum number of fields in a table, the maximum
is 255. IIRC, this spec is the same for Access 2000 and 2002(XP).

You can review all of the specifications for Access databases and their
objects by opening Access Help and navigating to the Getting Started Topic.
You'll see "Microsoft Access Specifications" listed as a sub-topic.

I'll hope that this is a "prurient interest" question, rather than
attempting to create a table approaching the (theoretical) max number of
columns/fields. A review of posts/responses in this (.tablesdbdesign)
newsgroup will reveal that it is very uncommon to need more than 30 (+/-)
fields in a well-normalized table design...

Good luck
