column width and macro

Hello,

I have recorded a macro to create a table with two columns, setting the
width of each column move to the next line. This approach worked very well
in all versions of Word until now where I am using Office XP. Each time the
macro finishes, the table has a ludicrous width, mainly because the
'preferred table width' is switched on. Going into table properties and
un-clicking 'preferred table width' resolves the problem but I need to
repeat this 100s of times and thus any idea how to get rid of this 'feature'
would be welcome.

So far I have tried to write a second macro to untick the offending property
but that doesn't seem to work.

Can anybody help, please?

If the table is a standard one, try saving it as an AutoText entry. You can
then insert it easily as needed.

Suzanne,
Just a follow up (maybe slightly off topic). I have a client who
uses autotext to add a row to their table. When they hit F3 to add the row,
the columns in the row that they are adding do not match the autotext when
it is originally saved. They have to manually adjust the column settings to
make the table uniform.

This document is being used in Word 2000 (I believe with no service
pack installed), and may have originally been created in a previous version
of Word (I personally do not know). I have been reading that this may be
corrected by installing SR 1A. Please let me know if this sounds right, or
if I should check other settings, properties etc.

Thanks,
Paul M. Leon

Perhaps someone else can help with this. I skipped Word 2000, so have no
actual experience with it, and I don't have any experience with this sort of
use of tables, either. Sorry.
