Is there any way to set the default column widths in the open file windows?
I have to always make the file name column wider to see the complete name
and its is really annoying

The dialog is an OSX dialog, not a Word dialog, and AFAIK, it's not
customizable.

However, if you play with the width of the dialog, you can expand all
the columns slowly until another pane is added. Reduce the width of the
dialog slightly to get the max width. Word should retain that setting
unless you change it.

And of course, columns in List view can be resized individually.

As far as seeing the complete name, you can hover over the long filename
for a second and a tooltip will appear with the complete file name.

This has nothing whatever to do with Word - Word is simply calling upon
the system to present the usual file open dialog. I suggest you switch
your file open dialog to List view and widen the dialog; this will solve
the problem nicely. m.

Thanks for the info. I am using the list view and each time I choose to open
a file the column widths have been reset and I will have to resize the name
column to view the entire filename.
