Columnar Report help

I have a DB with 1000 records. I would like to print a
report showing only the last name field info, and I would
like it in a multi column format.

So far I have been unable to get the data to flow from
column 1 on page 1 to column 2 on page 1, etc.

Have you set the columns in the Report Page Setup options?
Generally you want to creat the report for the first column
with a narrow report width and let the above settings
control how many columns on a page. There is an option for
whether you want the data to flow horizontal or vertical.
