Columns and page numbering

I am so frustrated! In Word 2003, I have 26 pages -- one page for each
letter of the alphabet. At the top of each page I have in 18 font and bolded
the letter of the alphabet. Underneath each letter on each page, I have a
list of documents. I then highlight the entire list, on each page, and apply
2 columns. So each page starts off with no columns and then the list is in 2
columns.

Now here is where I am frustrating. The page numbering has every page as
number 2. And I know how to do page numbering, so I know the page numbering
is in there correctly through the footer.

Why are the numbers not increasing??

You may need to go into every header/footer--including the ones for the
continuous section breaks within each page--and set the numbering to continue
from previous.

Why is it doing that? Word replicates the settings from the previous
header/footer. You may have specified a start at page 2 earlier in the
document.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, that didn't work.

So what I did was go into a blank document, and create my pages set up the
way I wanted, and then I pulled in each page individually into the column
shells I set up.... and it worked perfectly.

I really suspect that my original document was corrupt, because nothing was
working the way it should have worked.
