In the Word help documents, under Lay out a page by using columns >
Create columns

Item number 3 reads:

Click Columns Column button, and then click the number of columns that you want.

Where do I find the Columns Column button. It is not in the Word Menu Bar.

What View are you using? "Columns" only pertains to regular documents, so
you won't find the button if you're in Publishing Layout or Notebook Layout.

If you use Print Layout you'll find the button on the Standard Toolbar as
advertised. The button is mostly green & located right in the middle of the
bar. It's also there - but doesn't do you a great deal of good - in Outline,
Draft & Web Layout.

Bob,

Thanks for the reply. However, the button you describe does not appear on my Standard Toolbar when in Print Layout view. If it would help, I can send you a screen capture of my toolbar.

OK, try this first - Go to View> Customize Toolbars & Menus, Toolbars page,
then select the *name* of teh Standard toolbar to highlight it and hit the
Reset button. Confirm OK, then OK out of the Customize dialog & see if the
button appears.

After trying the steps that were outlined below, nothing changed. I then went back to the View> Customize Toolbars & Menus, Toolbars page where I discovered that the box in the Show column to the left of the *name* of the Standard toolbar was not checked. Checking it, brought up the Columns Column button.

Well geez, Bruce, why didn't you say the *entire* toolbar was missing...
That's like telling us you can't find the valve stem on your right rear tire
only to find later that you car had actually been stolen:)

Anyway, glad you got it resolved!
