columns disappearing excel

I have a large excel file, with 4 columns ,ABCD.
When I open the file it looks fine but when it finishes loading
the contents of column c disappears and is replaced by the same content as
column b

How can I get this exel doc back to normal?
Does anyone know what the problem is?
