How do you end a column in the middle of a page without
the following text starting at the top of the next page?
Can't seem to turn the column off.

I'm guessing that you have balanced columns on the paper,
and that you want to go back to a no-column format in the
middle of a page. If so...

Insert a continuous section break where you want the
columns to end. Insert>>Break>>Continuous.

Thanks, Bob, but it didn't work. It's times like this
that I wish fervently that Word Perfect had been the WP
choice of the Fed Gov.

Sometimes Word 2000 "overrules" your request for a continuous section
break and puts a next-page section break anyway.

The solution is to (after you add the section break) put the cursor
someplace in the new section, then go FILE -> Page Setup..., click the
"Layout" tab, then, at the top left of the dialog box where it says
"Section Start", make sure "Continuous" is selected, not "New Page".
Select Continuous.
