Columns

Not sure if I can explain this clearly but I will try. I am doing a
newsletter. The first section is in two columns. I set a continuous break at
the end so that the columns would be balanced.

My problem is as follows: the first column ends at the end of a
paragraph. The second columun starts with a new paragraph. When the second
column starts the first line is not parallel with the first line of the
first column. If I keep the wording continuous from the first column, the
second column then starts one line above the first line of the first column.

I hope someone understands this and can help me get both columns aligned at
the top.

Thanks for any assistance. I am at a dead end with this one.

I have the same problem, and work around it with a manual column break.
It is very dissatisfying to do this, because it complicates future
editing, but at least it gets you as far as the publication deadline.

I am glad someone else is experiencing the same problem. I tried the manual
column break and it didn't make any difference.

The only way I could duplicate your problem was if I included a return (^p)
at the very beginning of the calumniously columnated text.

Press Ctrl-Shift-* and see if you have a return at the very beginning of
your columns.

Hope that works.

No. This didn't work either.

I have started to notice that this problem doesn't always occur. I'm
now wondering whether it's due to the settings for paragraph spacing.
Time for some experiments...
