Columns

I use Microsoft Home XP. I am trying to set out a
document to look like a Newspaper article. I want to
keep the Title and the first paragraph on the top of the
page but when I am trying to change the rest of the
document into columns the whole page changes! I have
tried clicking on the help button but when I ask about
section breaks it doesn't seem to include it.

Hi, Vicky,

Put the cursor at the beginning of the first paragraph that should be in the
two-column section. Open the Format > Columns dialog, select 2 columns, and
then -- the part that was missing before -- set the "Apply to" dropdown at
the bottom of the dialog to say "This point forward". Word will
automatically insert a continuous section break at the cursor and make the
following text two columns.

The alternative is to insert the section break yourself, and set the "Apply
to" dropdown to "This section only". (This value isn't available if the
document consists of only one section.)
