Hi,

I am having problems with using columns in my word document (I just need to use 2).
At one section of the document it works, i.e. the word lining is continuous from one column to the next, going from top to bottom.
But then there are sections, where the columns do not go from top to bottom, but split into the two columns at half of the page. What I mean is that section 1.1 of my document looks the way it should, two columns going from top to bottom with continuous lining. But then in sections 1.2 and 1.3 the columns break where the section break, and they shouldn't. They should break at the bottom of the page.

I do not have any section breaks in my document!!!

Thanks for any suggestions.

You do have section breaks in your document, because when you apply
columns, Word HAS to add section breaks before and after the columns.
Section breaks are the only way Word can do columns.

So hit ¶ so that you can see the section breaks.

I'm not quite following your description, but you might try this:
Select the entire document. Set it to a single column. Now select the
entire thing and set it to two columns.

Daiya's definitely on top of this but I just wanted to interject another
point - do you have any manual page breaks in the file or have you used any
direct formatting or styles that include Page Break Before?
