Combine DVD and PowerPoint presentation

I am about to give a presentation where I show a few slides and then show a
clip from a dvd, few more slides another dvd etc. I plan on using WinDVD and
PowerPoint is there a way to stop the DVD overriding the presentation, I want
my assistant to be able to set it up while I am talking. I am using a
projector to display the pesentation

I think your going to have a very difficult time switching back and forth on
the same computer. I'd suggest three different options.

1. Use a video switch so you can have two inputs to the projector and switch
between them. (Some projectors have this built in.)

2. Rip the video segments to your hard drive if they aren't too large and
play them within PowerPoint.

3. Pay the DVD within PowerPoint directly. (Our new PowerPoint add in can
do this automatically for you. See link in my sig line.)
