combine Sharepoint(WSS) and project Server

Hi there,

I am aware that Prject Server is meant to be for Project Management.
Though i would like to achieve something else too and i wonder if this
is possible.

I have in a project several phases: Initiation, design, production,
testing and maintenance for example.

I will create a new project including a nice project space. This works
like a charm! Now i would like to create "issues" or "tasks" on a
sharepoint workspace and submit this into a project, by assiging this
to a team task (maintenance is a team of 6 people, all looking into
these lists).

What we currently do, is create an issue and copy and paste this
information as a task in Project (in the last phase maintenance).
Doing this by hand is a waste of time in my opinion, so i tried to use
a workflow. Unfortunately this did only work within that particular
workspace.

Could someone get me started automating this?

Kind regards,
RObbert

Hi Robbert
This is very much possible.
Project Server 2003 and 2007 seamlessly integrate with WSS.

On the Project Web Page you will see 2 seperate tabs for risks and issues.
Click on issues. Create a new issue.
In order to link this risk to a task follow these steps.

1. Go to the Project Centre
2. Click on the project for which you created a issue above
3. Select the task which needs to be linked to to the issue
4. And then click on link issue options availlable on the top of the project.
5. This will take you to the issue page.
6. Infact you can also define the relation between issue and the task

This will prevent you from doing manual copy paste and still give you best
of both world
Hope this helps

Thanks

Robert:

To accomplish this, you need to write some code to find the new or otherwise
flagged issues and then write them as tasks to the Project Plan. You must
have the development skills on board to accomplish this. I don't expect
anyone in the newsgroup to figure this all out for you, but if you have
specific developer questions, you should ask them at
microsoft.public.project.developer.
