combined documents won't renumber as one document

D

Dudley Chancey

I have several sections of a document submitted by
different people. they all numbered their document. I
inserted them into the master document. Now, I cannot get
Word 2002 to renumber the pages in order from 1 to 180.
If I delete the "{PAGE}" code, it deletes the pages
themselves. Help.

You probably have some section breaks in the document. Start with Section 1,
View | Header and Footer, and click the Show Next button on the Header and
Footer toolbar to get to each section in turn. In each one after the first,
click the Format Page Number button on the toolbar and make sure that
numbering is set to "Continue from previous section" instead of "Start at
1."

OTOH, if by "master document" you mean a Master Document, see
