combining projects

I am looking to purchase this software only if I can set
up several stand alone projects, keep them separate, and
also see them as one big project. Can I do this?

Yes, you can use Microsoft Project the way you would like to do. The "one
big project" to which you refer is formally known as a Master Project in
Microsoft Project. The "stand alone projects" to which you refer are
inserted and viewed as Subprojects in the Master Project, but are maintained
and saved as completely separate projects. If you begin using Microsoft
Project 2002 Professional with Project Server, you might want to regularly
monitor this newsgroup for questions and answers about best uses with Master
Projects in an enterprise environment. Hope this helps.
