Combining several files into 1 word document using word 2000?

Hi all,

I've done a few runs with different keywords using google and google
groups and have just one more idea (thought of as I was typing this) for
a google search before I start banging my head against the keyboard due
to a lack of applicable search results. How does one go about taking
several word documents, all from different authors with all sorts of
different styles (the important ones have been standardised throughout
the documents) and combine them into one long document?

Thanks,

Ari

To make things just a little more complicated, each document has its own
header and footers! :-(

You open the first document, go to the end of it, use the Insert File
command to insert the second document, go to the end of it, use the Insert
File command to insert the third document, and so on. At the end, save it
all with a new filename. Or am I missing something here?

To ensure that the headers and footers and other things don't get jumbled up
you might want to Insert Section Break before using the Insert File command.

That's where the header and footer info gets lost: only that of the
first document remains.

Thanks, I'll try this!

On the Header and footer toolbar there is a "same as previous" button. You
might need to ensure that "same as previous" is OFF in the second and
following sections to avoid having the same header and footer throughout.

Thanks, it was using the section break for the 'next page' that worked!
