Combo box to Option Group

I am creating a database to hold survey results. The
results will then be manipulated to create graphs and
other documents.

However, I do not have the know-how to create an option
group to tally the results and such.

So my thinking was to create drop down boxes. Can I
tally these answers and then at a later date create
option groups?

If not what is the best way to be able to tally the
results?
