Combo Box With SSN Input Mask

The ssn field stores the dashes for the ssn as a text and it set in the db to
use the standard ssn input mask.

I have combo box that when I didn't use the input mask would start as null
then open the drop down on change (first character entered) and then drill
down to the employee as you type more characters in the combo box. You would
have to type the dashes in for the 4th and 7th character.

When I put an input mask on the combo box, it opens the drop down, but it
does not drill down like it does with out the input mask.

Does anyone have a work around for this?
