combo (dropdown) boxes in custom properties

hi,

i am creating a series of rack diagrams with servers mounted on them, linked
to an access database, where all the data is held. It is important that i
have integrity between the data people will enter about servers on the visio
shape custom properties window, and the information for each column on the
database - with this in mind i have made as many of the columns in my master
table drop-down boxes, related to other tables. However, i cannot see a way
in which the custom properties field (i.e. memory, hard disk capacity, model
no.) can also be a drop down list; this hampers my ability to enforce
consistent data entry from visio into my database.

any help is greatly appreciated!

Custom properties can be one of eight possible types. Two of the types
(fixed list and variable list) let you define a list of possible choices
that get placed in a dropdown control. Go to the Custom Properties window
with your shape selected and right-click. Choose Define Custom Properties.
Here you can click on a custom property and then configure it. Set the
Type. Then in the Format field enter the list of choices separated by
semi-colons.
