command buttons "sometimes" don't work in Access 2007

I have several different databases that were originally created in Access
2003, I have installed and now using 2007 to open/run the database .mdb
files.

The problem I’m having is that “SOMETIMES†a command button on forms works
and other times I receive the following error: “Microsoft office access has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience.â€

Command buttons could be something simple like open /view a report or close
a form.

Even after a compact repair button doesn’t work. I “think†if I go into the
vba code and run a compile command, the button will work, but I don’t want
end users to have to do that every time.

I am using XP operating system. FE file is on desktop, linking to a BE file
on network. I have already set up trusted sources for both desktop and
network areas.

Sounds to me like you should be using an enterprise ready database,
with professional level debugging tools.

SQL Server allows things like _PROFILER_ that make it easy to trace
your database activity.
If I had a problem like what you're facing-- I'd be done already.

MS Access works great with SQL Server, using this technology known as
'Access Data Projects'.
