Command for a New Journal Item in Outlook 2003?

When working in OneNote, is there any way to 'click' (and generate the
instant appearance of) an Outlook 2003 'New JOURNAL Item' in the same way
that one is able to do this (through a toolbar command) for either an Outlook
'New Contact,' 'New Appointment,' or 'New Task?

No, I'm afraid not. It might be possible to create a tool that will do that
though, but that would require some scripting.

I suggested this a while back. It's an obvious "minimalist
integration" idea. I'll be steadfastly embarassed for OneNote if this
feature is not in OneNote 2.0. Should be interesting.

Actually "Create New Journal Item" is not at all an obvious "minimalist
integration" idea. When you consider what the purpose of Journal items is
and the nature of note taking it's not really clear that most people would
care to journal their note-taking -- that seems either redundant or
irrelevent depending upon how detail-oriented you are.

And I have no fear for your steadfast embarassment. I'm confident that no
matter how many features the OneNote team manages to get into the next
version you will find plenty of things to complain about. :)

And you'll be here defending obvious deficiencies.
Not sure what is worse.

Hey I'll be here raving about OneNote 2.0 if there is VBA. I'll put
some big compliments out if there is some scriptability to OneNote. If
OneNote gets "evernote"/"outlook" categories I'll be impressed. If
OneNote gets a backend where OneNote can pull info from a DB (i.e.
Access) I'll die and go to heaven.
