command line conversion from 97 to 2002

I have a couple of hundred laptops in the field that each have an Access 97
mdb that needs to be converted to Access 2003. Is it possible to do this
with the command line /convert ? When we deployed these things five years
ago we installed DATAACC for the drivers necessary. Access is not installed
on these machines. Do I need to install the newest version of MDAC and then
call the access exe with the /convert switch? Where can I find documentation
on this switch?

Installing the latest version of MDAC isn't going to help, for a couple of
reasons. MDAC hasn't included Jet drivers since MDAC 2.5, and even when it
did, installing MDAC didn't install msaccess.exe, so you wouldn't be able to
call it.

that Access be installed.

If Access is not installed, why do you need to convert to Access?
Could you just leave the database in A97 format? Or only convert
the database file format and leave the Access Project?
