Commandbarcontrol font formatting

I wish to have all new entries added to some controls (which already have
default text) enter text in a new font color or bold whatever in order to
distingusih the old from the new. With managed code I can get the
commandbarbutton object and for instance can run the print preview. However
though I successfully get the button for color or italic it will not accept a
execute() or .state = msobuttoncontroldepressed without an error. Can anyone
tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks Tim

thanks for answering. That would not suprise me. The information out there
would suggest that you should be able to but that is not my experience.
Curiously the commandbarcontrols that do not seem to be accessible are often
the same ones that will open in the task pane after you click (formatting).
However trying to access them that way has not been successful either. Tim
