Comments and Author name: Word 2003

Hello,
I have done a bit of research and I am even more puzzled about this
problem. We have a user making comments in a document and when they
save the document their name is removed and Author is put in its
place.

I have verified that "Remove personal information from file
properties on save" is unchecked. Also, the users full name is listed
in the User Information tab.

What would cause the document to remove the author's name and
replace it with Author when the setting is unchecked? This is Word
2003.

The Remove personal information from file properties on save option is the
only one I know of that will do this. (Or the Remove Hidden Data Add-in but
that doesn't work automatically.)

It could be the bit that controls the option isn't set correctly in the
file. What happens if you select the option, save the document, then
deselect the option, add a Comment and then save the document again?

I do not know if I will have a chance to test this but thank you for
the reply.
