Comments in MS Word 2003 appear as gibberish. Help!

When using comments in Word, the commenter identifier and formatting changes
(font changes, paragraph and page formatting, etc.) in the comment balloons
often appear as gibberish (^*...*&$#) on my screen. Anybody have a solution?

Does either the Comment Text or the Balloon Text style use some strange (or
unavailable) font?
