Comments not always appearing in E-Mail replies

We have a user who travels a lot and replies to and edits a lot of existing
E-mail text in Outlook 2000. He likes and uses the inline Comments feature
that inserts his name into the edited lines.

The problem is that this works when his laptop is docked at the office, but
not when he is on the road.

In both cases he is replying to a message, he is typing in a line of
existing text, and he uses the built-in editor - not Word, etc. The messages
are not plain text.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Is he using offline folders?

Yes he is. Is there a separate configuration there?

Not that I'm aware. I was sort of hoping he wasn't using offline folders,
since I've found them to work exactly as though I'm connected to the
Exchange server. I'll admit, though, that I've never used the commenting
feature.

One more wrinkle that I just became aware of:
When accessing our VPN on the road or from home, he is routed through our
main office's Exchange Server - not our local Exchange Server.
I wonder if it may have to do with that?
